About Porcelain Veneers
Teeth can be perfected quickly thanks to porcelain veneers that can be created and placed in 1 appointment with CEREC, which is offered by DFW cosmetic dentist, Dr. Scott Staffel. With CEREC, Dr. Staffel will customize porcelain veneers to perfectly match and fit a patient’s tooth without having to schedule multiple appointments. The veneers are thin and will be bonded on a patient’s tooth to correct a number of cosmetic concerns like cracks, chips, small gaps, stains, and much more. The porcelain veneers mimic the look of natural teeth since they provide a translucence that will allow them to blend in seamlessly with the rest of the teeth. Since veneers are customized, they will create a natural, gorgeous smile that any patient can be proud of. Porcelain veneers are also highly durable and will last a number of years with proper care.

What to Expect
Prior to applying veneers, the dentist will remove a thin layer of enamel from each tooth that will be covered to ensure that veneers bond properly. Once the teeth have been prepped, the dentist makes a digital impression of the teeth, which will be used to create the custom veneers with the CEREC machine. Once the permanent veneers are ready, they will be attached to the front of the teeth with a special resin bonding agent for durability all in one appointment. The dentist will adjust the veneers as needed to give the patient a comfortable and secure fit.
Treatment Aftercare
After porcelain veneers are applied, a patient should have a follow-up appointment about one week later so the dentist can check on the veneers. The dentist will ensure that veneers are placed properly, the bond is secure, and the fit is still comfortable. Porcelain veneers are more resistant to staining than your natural enamel, but precautions should still be taken. In order to keep veneers in their best condition, it is best to avoid staining foods and drinks, such coffee, soda, tea, red wine, and berries. A patient should continue to follow a good oral hygiene routine, including brushing the teeth with a non-abrasive toothpaste, flossing, and visiting the dentist for professional cleanings and dental exams. With proper care, porcelain veneers can last up to 20 years.
Insurance Coverage
Since porcelain veneers are classified as a cosmetic procedure, insurance normally won’t cover the cost. However, our office accepts several payment options and we can help patients with financing plans to make porcelain veneers more affordable.
